ROBERT PHILLIPS
The oil paintings of Robert “Bob” Phillips are an exciting new addition of remarkable fresh talent to St John. This award-winning painter of maritime scenes has combined his personal love of sailing with his love for painting. The results are canvasses that capture unique perspectives of St John’s natural beauty through the eyes of an active sailor. “I take my studio with me and paint on calm waters,” explains Phillips. “I am particularly fascinated by St John’s mountainous topography and the movement of cloud shadows over land and sea. Throw in a few sails and I’m in heaven.”

JOAN FARRENKOPF
Joan Farrenkopf will display her artistic growth in vivid oils of dawn and dusk scenes depicting St John’s landmarks and seascapes.
“A painting may begin with translucent oil color washes, the inspiration from color and light. The quality of the oil medium engages into the finished painting creating depth and atmosphere. It is a meditation to observe and paint the powerful color that nature teaches us.”

THOMAS O'DONOVAN
Master designer, sculpture and goldsmith Thomas O’Donovan presents his wearable art. “I am more interested in talisman and amulet than ornament. I often imagine the small pieces I create as monumental forms within a living environment; a ring made on a scale that becomes a portal, an entryway.”
